RICHARD H. BLAKE (Fiyero in Wicked)
What is your happiest Valentine's Day memory?
My happiest Valentine's Day memory would be from this past year. I had been touring with Wicked for over two years, and my last day with the tour before coming to the Broadway company was February 13. So I got to come home on Valentine's Day to see my beautiful wife. Now that doesn't sound all that amazing, but we'd found out in January that she was pregnant. So Valentine's Day was the first time I was able to see her and hold her since we found out!
What was your biggest Valentine's Day disaster?
It would have to be when I was, like, 17. I was early to pick up my girlfriend for a nice Valentine's Day dinner, and when I got there she was making out with another dude. Needless to say, it made for a very awkward dinner. (j/k. I broke up with her).
Tell us the perfect menu for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner.
The perfect menu for Valentine's Day would be the dishes that make my wife the happiest. So it would be Italian. We'd start with her mom's stuffed peppers. Then pasta and chicken parmigiana with my mother-in-law's sauce and freshly baked Italian bread from Twin Bakery in Boston. Then for dessert we'd have creme brûlée. (I know that doesn't really fit with Italian, but it's her favorite dessert.) All of this accompanied by our favorite wines, of course.
